I have Celiac disease, and I get digestive symptoms as well as brain fog when I am exposed to gluten or oats.

Totally yes, was what I expected

My school has many dining halls, Ability to feed me is fairly consistent across dining halls, I feel safe eating at any dining hall on campus, I have sufficient options at some of the dining halls, Ability to eat well was a critical part of my college selection process, I asked alot of questions before I came but the reality was different

For my freshman year, I ate every meal at the dining hall. This year, I eat lunch and dinner there, and make breakfast in my room (I have a full kitchen in my room)

.Yes, I have accommodations for safe food at the dining hall and excused absences for when I have a reaction

Yes, we have a nutritionist on campus.
If you were in charge of your school's dining, what changes would you implement to better feed students with your food restrictions? Would your school be open to these suggestions?
My school has an online menu that labels allergens, but not all of this food is actually available. I would make this more accurate. I think my school would be open to that.
Describe your biggest challenge with managing your food restrictions at college and how you deal with it
Feeling different from my peers. I have luckily surrounded myself with welcoming people.
Did your food restrictions impact your housing decision? How? Is there a certain dorm you recommend for those with food restrictions? Why?
Yes, I got a full kitchen because of my autoimmune disease. Would recommend! Very helpful.
What's your advice for managing the dining halls with your food restrictions? Favorite dining hall(s)? Any dining halls to avoid?
I set up a meeting with the nutritionist beforehand and have a set menu. This helps me stay safe at any dining hall.
What's your advice for eating in the dorm with your food restrictions? Favorite snacks? Places that deliver?
I like to make chia pudding. It’s filling and easy to make!
What do you recommend new students with food restrictions do before school starts? Or when they first arrive?
Definitely do a lot of research and ask questions before arriving.

There are a lot of places near BC that are safe (Crazy Dough’s Pizza, El Pelon Taqueria) that are popular. But Playa Bowls has caused me to react.
